Japanese Food in Kuala Lumpur

12月 17, 2013

Kuala Lumpur offers a wide array of gastronomical delights. As a melting pot of different cultures, it also caters to various cuisines around the world. From innovative and contemporary fine dining to authentic and traditional dishes, one cuisine that is gaining a stronghold among the foodies in this metropolitan city is the Japanese cuisine. It is no wonder then that a lot of Japanese restaurants have sprouted in the area.

One remarkable joint that we have recently discovered is Senya Izakaya: Sushi and Grill Bar. Strategically located along Jalan P. Ramlee Street, the restaurant offers a wide array of charcoal grilled items, sushi, sashimis, rice set, and other Japanese fares like ramen and set lunches ala Izakaya style.

It can be noted that in Japan, an Izakaya is a drinking establishment with a menu of small dishes for dining. Literally translated as, “stay sake shop”, it was traditionally a place where you could sit and drink on the premises. Nowadays, you could order food and drinks while relaxing after a hard day’s work.

So it was with great gusto that we all headed to savor Japanese cooking on a fine Tuesday evening. It was a special gathering since Kimura Syachou was with us during that day. When we arrived, the restaurant’s al fresco dining area was already full so we chose to dine inside for a cozy and casual dinner.

The no-nonsense menu can be ordered through an iPad. Just browse through, send order and your food will be served in a short while. The wait staff are pretty fast, efficient and friendly as well. We ended the night fully satisfied and ready to face the next day ahead.

Good food. Comfortable ambiance. Affordable prices. Let us all toast to that. Itadakimasu!
